Seminars of Archaeobotany 2022-2023 (May 12/16/19, 2023)

This year a cycle of seminars of archaeobotany will be offered in the MedArch program. Officially the seminars are attached to the course of Archaeology and Art History of Ancient Western Asia, but all MedArch students are welcome to participate in these seminars. Students of other programs are equally welcome. The 10 hours cycle will be held in English by Dr. Lorenzo Castellano (Anthropology/ISAW, NYU). The cycle is mandatory for those participating in excavations in western Asia, but will not be graded. Presence will be registered.

Here is the schedule:

  • Tuesday, May 16, 11am-1pm: botanical macro-remains (seeds and fruits)
  • Tuesday, May 16, 5pm-7pm: botanical macro-remains (wood charcoal)
  • Friday, May 19, 3pm-6pm: botanical micro-remains (pollen)

Interested students are invited to write to lc2995@nyu.edu and inform Dr. Castellano of their interest in taking the classes
