UNIPV-NYU graduate seminar in ancient western Asia Archaeology begins on 09/11!

Next week marks the start of the UNIPV-NYU graduate seminar in Ancient Western Asia Archaeology. This year’s seminar is titled:
Wealth, Inequality, Diversity: Political Archaeology of Ugarit
The concept and syllabus of the seminar have been sent via email. This seminar is aimed at students interested in engaging with advanced, research-oriented topics.

We will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, starting next Wednesday, 09/11. It is an elective component of the course Archaeology and Art History of Ancient Western Asia, whose lectures will commence in October.

Students participating in the seminar will have a reduced oral exam covering only the slides presented during the lectures, in support of the textbook Archaeology of Mesopotamia, and not the chapters from other assigned readings (see the online syllabus).

There are 10 spots available for the seminar. To participate, students must either have already taken courses on Ancient Western Asia (in history, archaeology, or literature) or be enrolled in the pre-courses starting on 09/16. Priority will be given to students planning to write a thesis on Archaeology of Ancient Western Asia, followed by a first-come, first-served basis.

Interested students should contact the instructor, Prof. d’Alfonso, directly at lorenzo.dalfonso@unipv.it.
